The dream team! Camille Sparkman, Katie Cyphers and me, SuthinGirl!

I wish I could hug the necks of every single one of our generous guests and selfless sponsors! You came, you shopped and you raised more than $6,000 at the first Fashion & Fortune to Benefit Education Cures!

Thanks to you, Education Cures will be able to provide even more teacher training and proactive education programs for children in Sierra Leone, a West African country that was effected by the recent Ebola outbreak.

The beguiling Camille Sparkman, founder of Articurate, was my co-host the evening of May 4 and I can’t think of anyone else with whom I’d rather run away to a mystical gypsy caravan!

Ready to jump in the gypsy caravan with us? PRESS PLAY!

Meet our gypsy godmother! The beautiful Gretchen Edwards of Gilstrap Edwards Interior Design gave the event a home by warmly opening her chic Buckhead space for our location.

The Buckhead atelier of Gilstrap Edwards Interior Design was transformed as we spirited our two hundred guests away for a night of cocktails, art, fashion and fortune.

KOE_0500.jpgThe carnival atmosphere included very popular tarot readings by the incredible Lisa Thex and a cool live painting demonstration by Atlanta artist Dakoro Edwards.

Edwards’s work is energetic, vibrant and full of hope, so he was the perfect artist to contribute to this evening centered on raising money and awareness for children and education in Sierra Leone.

Girls went ga-ga for the Grand Raffle Prize: a decadent pearl Mignonne Gavigan necklace donated by the woman whose style is out measured only by the size of her heart, Judy Johnson, and her Atlanta boutique, Sandpiper.

Guests had so much fun watching the creative process and Edwards was all smiles as he painted and chatted with onlookers. At the end of the evening, he generously donated the finished piece to Education Cures where it will be enjoyed by children at a school in Sierra Leone!

I just love her! Meridith Edwards (R), owner of MWL Designs, helped guests with the tough choices: deciding which of her colorful, sparkly designs to bring home!

OneHope Wine’s Melanie Hernquist provided a fun wine tasting experience with a variety of bubbles, whites and reds, which was complimented by delicious savory hors d’oeuvres and sweet bites from my very favorite personal chef and caterer, Sue Snape, founder of Leaf & Loaf.

Everybody went wild for this idea: buying wine as a way to donate to charity. That’s a “Why didn’t I think of that?” idea if I ever heard one! Melanie Hernquist (R), OneHope Wine

For someone like me who is on her feet a lot at events but loves the look of premier designer shoes, UKIES is a dream come true. I was thrilled to meet the charming and generous Kavita Khiatan and learn about her company UKIES, a European-inspired brand that focuses on delivering affordable, high style, Italian leather shoes while refusing to compromise comfort. SuthinGirl is sold.

Two of my absolute favorites: Tejal Lalaji and UKIES Creative Director, Kavita Khaitan

The secret behind UKIES comfort is in the patented nanoGel® technology. Our nanoGel® design provides two layers of shock absorbing material which lessens the ground impact that comes from walking and helps to redistribute body pressure. We added the same 100% antimicrobial Coolmax® fabric found in high- end athletic shoes to keep your feet cool and dry.
